Campus Solutions 9.0 Upgrade
New Delivery Model for PeopleSoft Campus Solutions: The EMS-IC Approach:
In early mid-March of 2009, Oracle Corporation announced changes to the delivery model for PeopleSoft Campus Solutions. Now, instead of the previous approach of large, feature-focused major releases, the new delivery model adds features incrementally and frequently to the 9.0 release of Campus Solutions through the use of something Oracle has named ‘Feature Packs’. Similarly, Oracle has announce that clients will, in the near future, need to ‘split’ or ‘de-couple’ their Campus Solutions and HR databases, a concern of every institution running on a combined database instance. So, how does this impact your institution? How can EMS-IC help you in this ‘brave new world’? What does this mean to your choice of consulting partners?
Our Qualifications:
EMS-IC brings over eleven years of experience in the higher education market, and has specifically been working with Campus Solutions since its initial releases. This experience allows us to help you decide how and when to upgrade your Campus Solutions System.
Further, our past experience has been melded with Oracle’s future approach in our Intelligent Chaos division, which focuses on the use of Oracle’s SOA Suite and web-services in order to solve targeted business problems for our clients. In other words, we already have the experience extending Campus Solutions through the use of our Process Enhancement Packs, built in a similar manner to Oracle’s new Feature Packs. Thus, EMS-IC is the right firm, the one ready to be your partner as you begin to explore the use of Feature Packs.
How to Proceed:
Our clients and prospective clients alike began to ask us for our advice shortly after Oracle’s announcement, and have posed specific questions to us. Our Oracle Certified Partner status, coupled with our deep experience in implementing and upgrading Campus Solutions, has helped us answer many of these questions. We’re already helping other universities determine their strategy and approach.
Do you have any of the following questions? If so, EMS-IC can help YOU determine the right path to take and assist you with your implementation or upgrade efforts:
1. Do I have to plan for a ‘Fusion Applications’ release of a student system, something
that isn’t Campus Solutions?
2. Do I need to train my technical staff on something new or different, like web-services
or data hubs?
3. Does the use of these feature packs mean changes to patch schedules, and how do
they impact our students and the departments supporting them?
4. How difficult is it going to be to ‘de-couple’ our student and HR databases?
5. Won’t this ‘de-coupling’ process create duplicates or other data quality problems?
