Attestation/Compliance Management

Attestation solutions enable business managers to periodically review and verify employee access rights across heterogeneous systems. This process ensures that only appropriate individuals have access to sensitive information. Part of the solution is a comprehensive audit trail of user privileges, including when, why, and through which systems information was accessed. The cost of demonstrating compliance can substantially increase through process of “recertification,” which requires a regular and periodic demonstration of compliance - especially when you have to repeat the same manual processes for every audit.

An attestation solution can automate this process, provide the ability to define and enforce segregation of duties (SoD) policies, as well as automatically trigger compliance actions based on specified events. This solution can also create a rich audit trail of attestation actions and allow for delegation where appropriate, as well as provide the ability to prevent user access to resources until policy awareness testing is passed.

Provisioning for Google Mail

The Google Apps™ service provides a compelling offer for businesses, universities, schools, and other organizations to outsource collaboration tools including email, calendar and team sites for low- or no-cost.

EMS-IC has developed a solution for Google Apps which provides Google’s customers with the infrastructure needed to automatically add, modify, and delete Google Apps accounts by expanding our client’s existing directory services and provisioning infrastructure.

One area that must be addressed prior to migrating to Google Apps is ‘How will we manage Google accounts?' EMS-IC can provide a solution that can provides a full set of account management through real-time secure interfaces to Google Apps. We have customized this connector to include:

• Capability to automate the create/update/delete of accounts based on actions in an organization's existing directory service (e.g. Microsoft Active Directory or LDAP)
• Ability for designated personnel to manually add/update/delete users at Google through a set of web-based workflows
• Ability to require approval prior to the creation of Google accounts
• Support for future expiration dates or renewal approvals

Contractor and guest access registration/sponsorship forms could be included. This option ensures that all create, update, and delete actions of user accounts on Google Apps follow the organization’s policy. For example, a rule can be easily applied to a contractor needing access to Gmail for one week and then automatically disabled. This approach is an efficient and secure account management solution initially targeted for Google Apps provisioning but built for future scalability to meet any IAM requirement.
